Founding member of the Wheelchair Racing group Rob Smith has been awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours List

This award recognises Rob’s international work and development with Active Hands – providing a range of gripping aids for disabled people, enabling them to do every day and sporting activities.

Rob, a graduate of Warwick University, is also a GB International wheelchair racer who has medalled at World & European level, including most recently winning the Marathon World Cup in 2018 at the London Marathon. Rob has held every T52 British Record from 100m to Marathon. He balances work and sport with a young family, and is a super advocate for the sport of wheelchair racing.

((Note: This is the second MBE awarded to club members – Lauren Rowles was entitled in 2016 recognising her Rio Paralympics Gold Medal in rowing))
