Godiva at the county champs

Saturday 4th January saw godiva compete in the first championships of the year, The county cross! Most athletes fall in the Warwickshire county so all but one result covers the Warwickshire cross country championships.

The day started quite slow for godiva with only limited success early on.
However this trend was bucked by Pierce in the U17 Men who ran a superb race to take individual gold!

In the same race was his brother Miles, who took the U20 individual gold too!(Proud parents!)

There was also further success for Miles as he had Tom and Ed in 6th & 7th securing gold for Godiva in the team event!

The U20 women also saw great success!
There was a individual silver for Amelia, Bronze for Alicia and with Emily in 7th for U20 Women the ladies were able to bag the team gold too!

Next up was the seniors!
The results are done by their position (for example XX Vet) and the position when combined with all 4 categories ran (Warwickshire, Worcestershire, seniors and vets).

The ladies were shy of completing a team in either event but leading the charge was Issy Davies 15th senior (26th overall), Jayne 43rd Vet (102nd) and Sophia in 33rd senior (110th)Excellent ladies!

Again I like to use this opportunity to invite others to come join and complete team at competitions

Men had 16 out competing!
The charge was led by Scott Hudspith 10th senior (13th), followed by Ali Smith: 11th senior (14th), Joe McLeod 12th senior (19th) and the senior team was complete by what has been described as a suicidal fast start from Clarky Roberts who was 16th senior (31st)

This had godiva men take the team silver!

Martin W had a smashing run and was 17th senior (51st), our 1st vet was James Bennett 26th (97th) Mark Sykes 29th vet (101st), Peggy came in at 38th senior (126th), Pete Eccleston 45th vet (144th) and completing the vet team was John Wilson 47th vet (152nd).

This had our vets team in 9th

Rob Richardson 63rd vet (180th), Brunty 69th vet(195th), Jose 75th vet (205th), Simon Clarke 87th vet (219th), Nick Bennett 95th vet (231st) and Martin Slevin 103rd vet (242nd) completing the godiva contingent at the champs!

Elsewhere Jason Brotherhood ran in the Leicestershire county champs and was 49th!!!Good one Jason!

The weather was good, the course was tough and all involved had great runs!

Congratulations all that ran today!
A great way to start the year:Seniors your next fixture is next Saturday!
