The weekend of 22nd and 23rd February 2020 saw Britons best athletes descent up to Glasgow for the British indoor athletics championship, with a good amount of Godiva athletes receiving an invite there is plenty to note.
Up first and the biggest result of the weekend came from our very own Alex Farquharson who was doing the Long jump, with an incredible 2nd round jump and new lifetime PB of 7.77 put him in to the interim lead for the event where he stayed up until the very last Jump where he was taken over by former (and again) British Champ Dan Bramble by only 4cm. Meaning Alex won the silver medal, huge Congratulations!
Carly Bates competed in the 60m Hurdles and ran a good time of 8.97. A solid time setting her up brilliantly as she now transitions to the outdoor season.
Esther Adikpe fresh from her BUCS (university) 400m Bronze medal then went in the 400m women heats and ran a very respectable 56.11 capping off what has been a busy few weeks having won the Welsh Championships only a few weeks ago too.
The final highlight for Godiva came from Morgan Amed , finishing 2nd in his heat with 21.92 qualified for the semi final, it didn’t end there! With an indoor PB in the semi final Morgan ran 21.77 to qualify for the final. Where Morgan maybe wanting more from his final but was always going to be difficult having been given the inside lane (which incidentally has been removed from international competitions for being too tight) he still managed a 22.28 and therefore finished 6th in the UK indoor champs
Well done all to all who were competing in Glasgow
