On Sunday 5th May a combined team of 41 athletes from Leamington Cycling & Athletics Club and Coventry Godiva Harriers took part in the first match of the U17 and U20 youth development league at Stourport on Severn. The composite team finished the day in first position overall with 558 points beating off stiff competition from Northampton with 551.5 points and Marshall Milton Keynes on 551 points.
Individual wins on the day for Riordan Maye 400m hurdles, Oliver Sheehan 400m, Drew Sinnott long jump, Stephen Baffour 100m & 200m, Jai Sispal & Emily Reed 800m, Tom D’Souza hammer, Lauren Ashbourne javelin, Sophie Hunt shot, Amelia Starling 1500m, Jessica Starling 300m, Alicia Roberts 3000m, Cameron Williams-Stein long jump and pole vault.
There were also wins for the team in the relays – U17M 4 x 100m (Stephen Baffour, Corey Nealon, Matthew French, Sam Smith) and 4 x 400m (Cameron Williams-Stein, Jai Sispal, Liam Highes, Remo Volpe) and U17W 4 x 100m (Kamiya Smith, Shannel Luseya-Moseka, Georgia Williams, Catherine Kandola) and 4 x 300m (Nadine & Jessica Starling, Rosie Cale, Holly Pater).
Many athletes also achieved AAA standards on the day including Lydia Mitchell level 3 javelin, Lily Clarke level 4 hammer, Matthew Ashbourne level 4 shot, Jack Bower level 4 triple jump, Pierce Clisham level 4 800m.
