Saturday 22nd saw Godiva take on the national Cross at Wollaton Park – Nottingham for this year’s edition of the English national Cross country
It was certainly “challenging” if you haven’t seen a photo already, parts of the course your socks wouldn’t be visible due to deep mud, there was even talk of a certain patch of mud slowing people down to over 11 min mile pace due to mud forcing people to pull legs out!
While there were some excellent performances from the young ones, I will not cover due to their age.
The U20 women did not have enough counters for a team, but with Amelia (72nd) and Alicia (83rd) 2 excellent performances are duly noted!
The U20 men had the best Godiva team performance of the fixture, Miles leading home the charge in 68th, Ed was 2nd Godiva in 129th, Lucas next 162nd and max completing the team in 187th.
This had out Junior men 7th! Congratulations guys!
The ladies had 3 ladies out and while not enough for a team, certainly enough for kudos!!
Myshola led the way in 283rd, next through in her first senior cross was Sally B in 410th and another good run was Jayne Mumford in 635th.
I do believe as the first lady through being Myshola makes her the club champion! Congratulations Myshola and good work ladies.
The gents continued their long tradition of completing a team in the national Cross.
Taking the 1st Godiva and now club champion is our very own kiwi: Matthew Battley! In 138th, next through was Ali Smith in 260th, Harvey Speed 327th, Clarky Roberts 391st, Campbell Menzies 419th and completing the 6man team Andy Boon 537th
The 6 man team finished better than last year in 29th.
The 9 man team had Jason Brotherhood 600th, James Bennett 715th and Mark Sykes 874th to finish an impressive 21st!
Completing the national contingent was Thomas Law 918th, Pete Eccleston 1083rd, Rob Richardson, 1186th, Jose Gonzales 1271st, Simon Clarke 1337th and Nick Bennett 1445th
Congratulations all! It was such a hard day!!
