Godiva at the London Marathon

A busy weekend in London for Coventry Godiva

Conditions were not far from perfect on the morning of 21st of April for the 2024 edition of the London Marathon which saw a total of 9 Godiva Athletes, 5 able bodied athletes and 4 athletes as part of the wheelchair races completing the historic 26.2 mile course.

After securing places at the race through the Championship Entry, Scott Hudspith and Dan Clarke lined up to take on the race in the capital. Scott finished his first marathon attempt in a strong time of 2hrs 26min 14 sec and Dan Clarke took on his third marathon and finished in over a 2 minute PB of 2hrs 34min 56sec.

Next in was Jamie Hnatushka, who secured one of the allocated club places, was also running his first marathon and was also in a race to get to Wembley before the start of the FA Cup Semi Final. Jamie finished within the prestigious 3hr barrier in a time of 2hrs 56min 35sec.

The second club place was with Justin Gilbert whom has completed various marathons and chalked up 4:17:44

Also taking on his first marathon was club triple and long jumper, Jack King. Running with a charity place Jack completed the course in 3hrs 56 minutes exactly.

Following up from their exploits in the Tokyo Marathon just a few weeks ago there were 4 athletes who lined up to embrace the atmosphere of this special event in the capital. First in was Gary Cooper in an impressive 2hrs 16min 39sec securing him 28th place. Following him in was Steve Montgommery in a time of 2hrs 35min 21sec. Also completing the course was Rob Smith in a solid time of 2hrs 44min 34sec.
